Biography

I am a graduate of the Sackler Medical School, Tel-Aviv University Israel. I did my residency in internal medicine at Assaf-Harofe Medical Center (where I was board certified in internal medicine) followed by a fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at Sharrei-Zedek Medical Center where I was board certified in Geriatric Medicine. Today, I am a senior physician and head of the sub-acute geriatric department and chronic ventilation unit at Herzog Hospital, a geriatric psychiatric facility in Jerusalem. I am a senior Lecturer at the Hadassah-Hebrew University Medical school . I teach medical students in the preclinical and clinical years and also nursing students and students in Pharmacy School. My research areas include infectious diseases in older adults and in long-term-care facilities, presentation of disease in the frail older adult, ethical issues relating to end of life care and caring of the frail older adult, factors associated with depression and burden among primary caregivers of frail elderly, and medical humanities (presentation of the elderly in art and movies). I am the chief editor of Gerontology the official journal of the Israel Gerontological Association; a member of the Editorial Aboard of the Journal the Annals of Pharmacotherapy; Head of the committee of the board examinations in Geriatric Medicine, and participate in many national forums relating to medical ethics.
